This exceptional Late 19th to Early 20th Century Native American Washoe Ceremonial Basket Bowl is a remarkable example of the celebrated Degikup weaving tradition of the Washoe Tribe of the Lake Tahoe region. Distinguished by its intricate pictorial decoration and outstanding craftsmanship, this basket represents one of the most admired forms of Great Basin Native American basketry.
Expertly handwoven using the traditional three-rod coiling technique, the basket features striking polychrome geometric and animal motifs woven in red bracken fern against a natural willow foundation.
